Cambodia and the Philippines will continue mutual growth in agriculture, industry, trade, and technology
On the morning of October 10, 2025, at Special Hall 3 of the Senate Building, H.E Dr. Thun Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate, met with H.E. Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, Ambassador of the Philippines to Cambodia. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation in the fields of agriculture, industry, education, trade, and technology.
At the outset, HE Dr. Vathana expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Philippine government for the earthquake that struck the Philippines the previous night.
He commended the strengthening of Cambodia-Philippines relations, particularly following recent high-level exchanges between the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the President of the Philippines. H.E Dr. noted that the Philippines is a vital member of ASEAN and plays a crucial role in promoting economic resilience and trade within the region. He highlighted the notable increase in exports of rice, grains, agricultural products, and other goods to the Philippines.
During their discussion, HE Dr. Vathana and Ambassador Mayo exchanged perspectives on international issues, particularly conflicts in the ASEAN region. They acknowledged the ongoing tension along the Cambodian-Thai border, despite a ceasefire. HE Dr. Vathana reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resisting provocations and pursuing a peaceful resolution through legal negotiations, particularly concerning the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers kidnapped by the Thai army since the ceasefire took effect.
They agreed on the importance of seizing opportunities in the current global landscape to strengthen their ties and continue mutual growth in agriculture, industry, trade, technology and other sectors.
